School days formula

School days = calendar dates checked - excluded weekends - custom no-school dates; add mode counts forward until the requested number of school days is reached

This calculator uses only the dates and options you enter. It does not automatically apply country holidays, district calendars, or official academic calendars.

Step-by-step example

  1. Start date is Monday
  2. You add 5 school days
  3. Weekends are excluded
  4. Tuesday through Friday count as 4 school days
  5. The next Monday is the 5th school day, so that is the result date

When to use this calculator

  • Use it to estimate dates such as 10 school days from today.
  • Use it to count possible class or study days between two dates.
  • Use custom no-school dates for breaks, school holidays, local holidays, or days your class does not meet.

Common mistakes

  • Assuming the calculator knows official holidays automatically.
  • Forgetting school breaks, exam weeks, teacher workdays, or class-specific no-meeting days.
  • Using the result as an official attendance or academic calendar decision.

How to interpret your result

The result is a planning count based on your settings. If a school, region, or teacher has a different calendar, use the official calendar as the source of truth.

School days = calendar dates checked - excluded weekends - custom no-school dates; add mode counts forward until the requested number of school days is reached

Limit of this estimate

Only weekends and the dates you explicitly exclude are removed from this count. The calculator does not know public holidays, closures, reading periods, make-up days, or a regional or institution-specific academic calendar.

Input checks and common mistakes

  • Choose the add-days or count-between-dates mode that matches the question, and check whether the start date should be counted.
  • Enter each known no-school date once and confirm that the selected weekend pattern matches the institution calendar.

Course policies not modeled

  • Public holidays, emergency closures, reading periods, and regional observances are not downloaded automatically.
  • Make-up instructional days and institution-specific calendar revisions must be added or removed manually.
